With heavy hearts we announce Sophie’s passing on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 88 at River Bend Place with family by her side. She is together once again with beloved husband James (2002). Loving mother to Sharon (Harold) Bach and Barbara Gamble, proud Grandma to Angela Gamble, Chris Bach, Steven Gamble (Dawn), Great-Grandma to Cadyn, Austin and Camryn, dear sister to Anne Heath and special angel to friend Lona Brideau. Predeceased by five brothers and one sister. She will be missed by her extended family and friends. Sophie enjoyed volunteering her time to many organizations within the community. She was a past volunteer with the blood donor clinic and seniors pool program at the Fairview Mennonite Home. A longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. She also served on the Church Altar Guild and was a member of the church 49ers group. She was also a member of the Wandering Canadians Group. In her spare time Sophie was an avid bridge player and enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650) from 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held the following day on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 63 Grand Avenue N., Cambridge at 11am and interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sophie’s memory would be appreciated.
