William "Bud" Alexander Mc Leod

Was called to his last duty on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his residence in Cambridge with his loving family by his side. Bud was born 79 years ago on March 27, 1935 on the Kilgore Farm in South Dumfries, Brant County. He was a son of the late William Fraser Mᴄ Leod and Margaret (Turnbull) Mᴄ Leod. Beloved husband of the late Donna May (Benedict) Mᴄ Leod whom he married August 14, 1954. Loving dad of Karen Wilson & husband Daryl (2014), Cathy Mᴄ Leod, Vicki Mᴄ Leod & husband Tony Letson, all of Cambridge. Devoted papa of Amanda Wilson (Matt Moore), Morgan Smith (TJ Smith), Nathan Wilson (Amanda Wilson), Joshua Stewart (Stacey Hawthorne), Keisha Mᴄ Leod (Vanessa Haines), Stephen Murphy and Karley Murphy. Special G.G. Pa of Emma Wilson. Dear brother of Jim Mᴄ Leod & wife Inez (both predeceased), Margaret & husband Bruce Ford, of Ayr, Dorothy Mitchell of Ayr & husband Bill (predeceased). Special brother-in-law to Isabel & Les Owen, of White River.

In April 1951 he joined the Ayr Fire Dapartment as volunteer firefighter. He worked for nine years at Sheldon’s Engineering Limited on Grand Avenue South in Galt. Served on the Galt Auxiliary Police Force for two years, St. John’s Ambulance Division for six years. Started as a part-time firefighter with the Galt Fire Department in October 1958, was taken on a full-time firefighter on March 1, 1960. Bud retired from the Cambridge Fire Department on March 30, 1995.

To honor Bud’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held at the T. LITTLE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 223 Main Street, Cambridge on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment Ayr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cambridge Firefighters Christmas Basket Fund or to the Cambridge Firefighters Museum.
