Athena Kaldes, 94, of Camp Hill, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Wellington at Hershey's Mill, West Chester. She was born October 13, 1924 in Allentown. She was the daughter of late Christopher Matangos; and preceded in death by her husband, James Kaldes; and 2 brothers, Harry and John Matangos. Surviving is her son, William J. Kaldes, (Stephanie); her daughter, Helen N. Rassias, (Nikitas); four grandchildren, Faithe, Jennifer, Dimitri and Jessica; and seven great-grandchildren. She worked tirelessly, for over 60 years, alongside her husband at their restaurant The Spot, in downtown Harrisburg. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she taught Sunday School, served as President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and helped with baking thousands of cookies for the church festival. She was also a member of the Camp Hill Woman's Club philanthropic organization. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM Thursday until the time of the service at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
