November 24, 1955 – October 3, 2026
Barbara Ann “Barb” Sanders, 70, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Fierce, determined, resilient, intelligent, and deeply loving, Barb was a woman whose presence could fill up a room. She possessed a remarkable strength of character, an unmistakable energy, and a generous heart. Through her life, she faced challenges with extraordinary perseverance, approaching even the most difficult circumstances with the same determination that defined who she was.
Born on November 24, 1955, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Barb was the daughter of the late Eugene and Julia (McNair) Adam. Her strength and ambition were evident from an early age. Despite adversity in her youth, she excelled academically, earning a full scholarship to Rochester Institute of Technology after attending High School in Wilkinsburg, outside of Pittsburgh. Her intelligence, dedication, and work ethic ultimately led her to a successful and fulfilling career as a Senior Analyst with Hewlett-Packard, from which she retired.
One of the most beautiful chapters in Barb’s life began when she was 15 years old and a member of the Wilkinsburg High marching band. It was through their shared love of music that she met her future husband, William “Bill” Sanders. Bill played the trumpet, while Barb played the flute and French horn and was also a drum majorette. What began as a teenage romance grew into a lifelong love story. Together sine the age of 15 and married for 46 years, Barb and Bill built a life centered on God, family, devotion, and enduring love.
While Barb accomplished much throughout her life, her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother who made being present for her children a priority. Whether it was a soccer game, track meet, or swimming competition, Barb was there, faithfully cheering, supporting, and encouraging them. She brought that same love and dedication to her three grandchildren, finding immense happiness in the time they shared together.
Barb also had an extraordinary gift for creating things with her hands. A master seamstress, she could transform fabric into almost anything imaginable, from curtains and beautiful quilts to elaborate Halloween costumes and even her daughter’s Homecoming queen dress. Every stich was another expression of her creativity, patience, and love. She loved gardening and transformed her home with beautiful blooms every spring. She was equally at home in the kitchen, where baking became another way of bringing her family together. The simple tradition of baking pies and cookies with her children, and later her grandchildren, created cherished memories that will live for generations.
Barb’s resilience was perhaps most evident following the strokes she suffered in 2012. Faced with the enormous task of learning to speak and read again, she demonstrated extraordinary courage and determination. She refused to be defined by a medical diagnosis, and she persevered again showing those around her the remarkable strength of the human spirit.
Yet Barb was so much more than the challenges she overcame. She was the energy in a room, the familiar face in the stands, the loving hands behind a handmade gift, and the warmth of a kitchen filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies. She was strong-willed yet kind, accomplished yet devoted to the simple joys of family, and fiercely protective of the people she loved.
Barb is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, William R. Sanders; her son Adam Sanders; her daughter Lauren Miller, and son-in-law, John Miller; three cherished grandchildren; and her three sisters, Gene Embler, Dawn Edwards, and Carol Edmonds.
A memorial service celebrating Barb’s life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 N. 23rd Street, Camp Hill Pennsylvania. Barb’s legacy cannot be measured simply by the years she lived or the obstacles she overcame. It lives in the family she loved, the lives she shaped, the memories she created, and the remarkable strength she inspired in those who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
