She was born on January 21, 1933, in Riobamba, Ecuador, daughter of the late Zoyla and Leonardo Cobo.
Carmen was a devoted member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill, PA. Her faith and love of God endured and were an inspiration to all as she bravely and serenely faced her mortality. Carmen was blessed to have the support from her church’s home bound services and was able to maintain the connections with her church even when she was homebound.
She is preceded in passing by her parents; Zoyla and Cristobal Cobo, brother; Cristobal Cobo, beloved husband, Vivencio “Delito” G. del Rosario. Carmen and Delito were married 52 years until his passing 17 years ago. They also had a daughter Veronica, who died at birth in 1964.
Surviving her are her children: Rosa Benavides; husband Washington, John Benavides; wife Lynn, Christopher Benavides; wife Tina, Carmen Elena Prophet; husband Steven, Maria Bernadette del Rosario; husband Brian Burke, and Robert del Rosario; wife Lenke Erki-del Rosario, along with 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Carmen spent a lifetime dedicated to her family. She practiced and taught the family the importance of love and familial unity above all else. Her legacy continues in the strong bonds amongst her children and grandchildren. She shared her home health remedies and green thumb secrets with her children. Carmen traveled the world with her husband and shared those stories and gifts with the family after each trip. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who assisted them in allowing Carmen to remain in her home until her passing, a wish she had hoped for, and a reality brought to fruition with their help and support. She leaves behind
extended family members around the world, and the family thanks them as well for the phone calls, prayers, and constant contact throughout the years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday July 18, 2026, at 12:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd; Camp Hill, PA. The time to gather will take place from 11:30am until Mass. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery; Mechanicsburg, PA.
