Catherine S. Bucher

She was born December 7, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Angelo and Asimon (Ramos) Sardelis.. She was also an Avon Representative for many years. Catherine was a 1948 Camp Hill High School graduate, where she was awarded a Varsity letter in basketball.

In 1954, she married Korean War veteran and high school classmate John Bucher.

John and Catherine were the lead organizers for Camp Hill High School class reunions.

Catherine was a stay-at-home mom who pursued an in-home business as an award- winning Avon Lady. Through her Avon business she cultivated many lifelong friends.

She served as president of the Penn’s Woods Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association.

She enjoyed playing piano; playing cards with card club friends for more than 30 years; monthly penny poker games with her family; playing Scrabble and solving crossword puzzles; and watching TV game shows.

Many years ago she was affectionately known at a local indoor ice rink as “The Music Lady,” where she ran the music booth for figure skaters practicing their routines to pass competition levels and tests.

She was a wonderful mother, creative with arts and crafts, and always supportive of her daughter. They enjoyed many mother-daughter getaways together in Ocean City and Wildwood, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Bucher and a brother, Nicholas Sardelis.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Gaster, of Middletown; sister, Bessie Moyle, of Camp Hill; and brothers Christ Sardelis, of Camp Hill and John Sardelis, of Dauphin.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St. Camp Hill, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
