Chi Paul Chen, of Camp Hill, passed away at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence in Harrisburg on Thursday, December 19, 2019, the eve of his 49th wedding anniversary to his devoted wife, Wa Helen Chen.

Chi was born on October 29, 1933 in Lang Song, Vietnam. In 1955, he resettled in Saigon, where he met his wife and had two sons, Howard, now of Camp Hill, and Hans, now of Silver Spring, Md.

In 1965, Chi began working for the U.S. Army, which allowed him to flee Vietnam with his family in April 1975. Upon arriving in the United States, they were sponsored by Grace United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, where Chi and Wa became life-long members.

Chi, who spoke five languages, became a caseworker in 1979 for the International Service Center in Harrisburg, where he assisted newly arriving refugees. He later joined Highmark Insurance, from which he retired in 2003.

An avid karaoke singer and competitive table tennis player, Chi enjoyed traveling around the world with Wa and fellow retirees.

In addition to his wife and sons, Chi is survived by daughter-in-law Sandie Angulo Chen and grandchildren Elias, Delia, and Jonah Chen, of Silver Spring. Chi also leaves behind four siblings: Tai Chi Chen of Taipei, Taiwan, Nancy Vu (Binh) of Springfìeld, Va., Andy Chen (Xi Yin) of Taipei, Taiwan, and Sut Chi Tran, of Camp Hill; and two nephews: Bryan Vu and Frank Chen. Chi was predeceased by his sister, Yi Chi Tran.

Visitation will be at the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill, Pa. 17011, on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:30am; with a funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011.
