Born on August 27, 1934, in Mechanicsburg, to the late Malcolm and Catherine (Shover) Hopkins.
Surviving David is his loving wife Mary-Ellen (Hare) Hopkins, a sister Doris (Hopkins) Trout, a brother Dennis, sons David Jr. and Douglas, a daughter Deborah (Hopkins) Leininger, five stepchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
David worked for the Department of Defense at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot for 47 years. He was very friendly and never bashful about meeting new people. He enjoyed traveling, reading the sports and the news every day, and attending live sporting events. He especially enjoyed watching the Mechanicsburg West Shore Twilight League baseball team and the Harrisburg Senators baseball team.
A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:00 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery; 320 S Frederick St, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. After service at the cemetery, everyone is invited to meet for lunch at Snappers Bar & Grill at 120 E. Allen St., Mechanicsburg. (Approximately 12:30pm)
