Frank Joseph Lavery, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2025. He was born on April 4, 1959 in Harrisburg, PA. He spent his early life in Cinaminson, N.J., before moving back to Harrisburg while in high school. He was the son of the late Frank J. Lavery and Joan Bakun Lavery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Pat, to whom he was married for 36 years, his children Mary Brigh (Alec) of Providence, R.I., Frank (Samantha) of Camp Hill, PA, and Richard Lavery of Dillsburg, PA., and the joy of his life, his granddaughter, Mary Claire Lengyel. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Lavery, his sisters Virginia Lavery and Joan McLaughlin (Steve), and five nephews and two nieces.
He graduated from Central Dauphin High School and Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After college, he attended Loyola University New Orleans College of Law where he received his juris doctorate degree in 1984 with honors. He was a member of the law review where he served as the notes editor.
He practiced law primarily in the Harrisburg area from 1984 until his death. In 1995, he established his own firm which eventually became Lavery Law, P.C. He was solicitor to the Dauphin County Prison Board and the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association. He proudly represented municipalities across the Commonwealth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and all Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill, PA. Visitation will be held at the church immediately preceding the mass from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to his church.
