George Petsock

George Petsock, 79, of Camp Hill passed away suddenly at Holy Spirit Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae of Camp Hill, his father George and mother Anna, his sisters Dorothy Hokkanen and Claire Maher, all from Shamokin, PA as well as his nephew Theodore Hokkanen from New Orleans, LA.

Surviving relatives are his children, Robert E. Nettles and Marie Deissroth, both of Camp Hill, and Barry L. Nettles of Lemoyne; grandchildren, Chelsea Nettles Mackey, of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Nettles, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Anita Perea, of Austin, TX. George is also survived by his nephews, Mike Hokkanen and his wife Mary, of Dushore, PA, Gregory Hokkanen and his wife Melissa, of Fogelsville, PA and George Hokkanen and his wife Kathy, of Dover, PA and all of their respective families.

George was a graduate of Shamokin High School, a proud U.S. Marine who served during the Korean War, which was then followed by a long and productive career with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. George rose quickly through the ranks to become the Deputy Superintendent of the White Hill Correctional Facility, later becoming Superintendent of the State Correctional Facility at Pittsburgh. He also served as the President of the Pennsylvania Prison Wardens Association. He is a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Elks.

George spent his retirement years summering in Camp Hill and wintering in Florida. He loved surf fishing and making friends from all over the United States and Canada. George was full of life and will be missed by all that knew him. He had an open hand for those in need and a ready smile for everyone he met.

A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM Friday, April 19, 2013 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
