He was born on October 26, 1935 in Lykens, PA. He was born in his family home to the late Thomas J. and Dorothy M. Forney Scheibelhut.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy B. Scheibelhut.
Surviving Gilbert is his sister Susan Massie (Husband Lewis), his six children: Ruthann Shoenfelt (Husband Dick), Connie Harness (Husband Eric), JoAnn Dorwart (Husband Darryl), Cindy Taylor (Husband Dave), Pam Dougherty (Husband John), and Gilbert Scheibelhut, Jr. (Wife Karla). In addition, he is survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Gilbert served in the United States Air Force, and then following his service from the military he worked as a customer service associate for Xerox for 31 years. Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed many athletic activities, especially tennis, golf, and bowling.
He was a jack of all trades, from building both family homes to fixing electronics and even ballroom dancing with this wife. He helped build both family homes along with his friends. Above all, he loved being with his family whether it was hosting gatherings or simply watching Penn State or the Phillies.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 26 with a visitation from 9:00-11:00am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church; 4685 Mt. Zion Drive, Enola, PA 17025. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00am. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the funeral service. Interment will follow at Rolling Green Cemetery; 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
