James Arthur Yates

Dr. James A. Yates, M.D., 83, of Lemoyne, passed away July 17, 2018 in Homeland Center, Harrisburg. He was born June 5, 1935 in Butler, PA, son of the late Adolph and Laura (DeFoggi) Yates. Dr. Yates was a 1956 graduate of Cornell University and a 1960 graduate of the University of Maryland Medical College. He interned at Cleveland Clinic Hospital with his Residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He specialized in Plastic Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital in 1966. Dr. Yates served as Captain in the Army Medical Corps, at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. He was past President of American Association for Accreditation Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was past Medical Director at Grandview Surgery Center. He served as past President of Lemoyne Borough Council and served on the Board of Director for the Police and Fire Commission of Lemoyne. Preceded in death by his brother Dr. Adolph Yates. Survived by his wife, Debra Yates, of Lemoyne, daughter, Jamie (Yates) Reynolds, husband Scott, of Seabrook, TX, grandchildren, Lyndsey Reynolds and Jamison Reynolds and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 July 21, 2018 at the West Shore Country Club, Camp Hill, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I spent time with Debra and Jimmy last October staying at their home for a couple of days. Jimmy was so kind and it was wonderful to talk to him. When I left he and I hugged. I am so glad that I was able to spend that time with them.
