Jeff was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Ted and Ruth Price on September 2, 1955. From a young age, Jeff found joy in all things that go — cars, motorcycles, trains, planes and sailboats. He continued that fascination into adulthood, joining the railroad as soon as he was able and proudly operating locomotives his entire 42-year career, working for Penn Central, Conrail and Amtrak. Even in his free time, Jeff piloted planes and captained boats.
Still, there was no greater love in Jeff’s life than his family and friends. He was the dad who showed up, the brother you could count on, and the person who always offered help without hesitation. He never asked why, only what and when he was needed.
Jeff never missed a Little League game and always had a silly story to tell. Even walking his dogs often became a chance to talk to and laugh with a neighbor. Jeff was wise enough to know early on that life didn’t need to be taken too seriously. Except maybe when it came to his Pittsburgh Steelers & Pirates, golf game or morning crossword. Anyone who knew Jeff will undoubtedly miss his sense of humor and generous spirit.
Jeff is survived by his son, Forest Price, and his daughter, Sada Alvarez, and her husband, Javier Alvarez, along with three beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Price, and his sister, Diane Navoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Price and Ruth Price.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. on May 17 at Neill Funeral Home in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
While the world feels quieter without Jeff’s laughter, it is richer for the love he gave.
The family is requesting no flower donations to be made for Jeff's services.
