OBITUARY

Jeffrey Lee Gates

Jeffrey L. Gates, 81, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home after a long illness.

He was born in Harrisburg to the late Lee J. and Emma Gates.

Jeff was a member of the Shepherdstown United Methodist Church. He was a 1958 graduate of William Penn High School and was employed by McFarland Co. of Harrisburg for 25 years. He retired from General Graphic Services of York.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruth (Fox) Gates, and their children: Julie Fake of Harrisburg, Michael Gates (Susan) of Lebanon and Diane Poxleitner (Jeremy) of Holly Springs, N.C. Grandpa Jeff loved and was most proud of his grandsons Alexander and Isaac Poxleitner.

Jeff was a fine artist and was skilled at woodworking and anything mechanical. He enjoyed model trains and created stunning layouts for them.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill. Due to Covid-19 protocol, all guests will be asked to maintain social distance and masks will be mandatory. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the ASPCA; PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.

Blessings on the Gates family! Jeff and Ruth were our first friends at Shepherdstown UMC. They were good listeners and encouragers. Jeff was always sharing news about his grandbabies and dogs. We will always miss his presence. Peace and comfort to his loved ones.
