

She leaves behind her beloved cats, Symphony & Melody whom she loved as her children.
Joan was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Charles F. Jackson Sr. & Bernice C. Jackson (Beards).
Joan was a graduate of William L .Dickinson High School, St .Francis School of Nursing Jersey City NJ, Jersey City State College (Now New Jersey University, Jersey City NJ) & various other schools of Higher Education.
Joan worked for many years as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Jersey City, before moving on to Director of Nursing at Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation, West Orange, N.J. Joan never stopped working – she went on to become a Medical Paralegal specializing in Medical Malpractice Insurance for PMSLIC IN Camp Hill P.A. From there she went on to work for 2 private law firms specializing in Nursing Home Patient Rights Hynum Law & Trinity Law.
Joan was quite active in her community – working with her church ECOG Enola PA, helping with CCD program, vacation Bible School as an assistant and as a Private Duty Nurse for the students, along with many other community activities and events.
In addition to her 2 cats, Joan leaves behind; 3 Brothers – Joseph C. Jackson of Cape Coral Florida, Bernard J. Jackson of Cranford NJ and Wife Joann Jackson, and Charles F. Jackson Jr. along with her sister Mary Ann Leonard and Husband John R. Leonard Sr., of Bayville, NJ; 5 Nieces, 14 Nephews, 7 Great Nieces and 6 Great Nephews and the apple of her & Michael’s eye Dylan Hynum. She will also be missed by many cousins whom Joan grew up with and shared many good times and many loyal friends in both NJ & PA.
Joan’s Family would like to thank all of her community for helping her when she needed help along with great friendships, kindness & generosity in her time of need & difficulty. Joan could not have done it all with out all of you and we her family are eternally grateful and cannot thank you enough.

There will be a celebration of Joan's life at her home in Pennsylvania on Saturday September 10, 2022 from 12:00-2:00pm A Memorial Mass will be held for her in New Jersey on September 23, 2022 at 9:30am at The Church of Saint Catherine Laboure, 110 Bray Ave, North Middletown, NJ 07748. Light refreshments will follow in the Church Hall.
