John Edgar Strausbaugh, 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. He was born February 15, 1938 in York, PA to the late Edgar and Margaret Strausbaugh. On March 4, 2000, he married Catherine (Hirsch) Strausbaugh. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Shiloh Paving and Excavating.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved anything outdoors. He and Cathy enjoyed camping with their fifth wheel and spent their winter months in Florida. He deeply loved and cared for his wife Cathy and their most loving words to each other every night following their prayers were... “I love you; I love you more; I loved you longer”.
John was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Margaret and brother James Strausbaugh.
He is survived by his wife Cathy Strausbaugh; children Loretta Dean, Cathy Zimmerman (Scott), Debbie Pesich (Randy), and Stephen Snyder (Amy). John has 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
John is survived by sisters, Mary Palmer, Ruth Kessler, Darlene Snyder (Joe), Donna Forry (AJ) and brother Robert Strausbaugh, sister-in-law Joan Strausbaugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 26, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; 400 E. Simpson St. Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. A visitation will precede the service at 10 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Union Deposit Cemetery 140 Hershey Rd. Hummelstown, PA 17036.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
