Born on October 22, 1927 in Sacramento, PA, to the late Irvin and Ellen Mae (Bowman) Herman.
She is preceded in death by – sister Nancy (Herman) Gramm Stong, brother Irvin (Junior) Herman, son David L. Evans, and grandson Rex Gensler.
Surviving Joyce is her loving husband of 77 years, David Edward Evans; her daughter, Sandra Gensler; grandchildren, Elaine (Jason) Meily of Palmyra and Joseph Gouse of Baltimore, MD; great grandchildren, Paige and Dexter Meily of Palmyra; sister Joan Wolfe of Lykens; brother George (Alice) Herman of Strinestown; sister-in-law Dolores Herman of Indianapolis, IN; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joyce retired from Tri-County Community Action as a Secretary/Administrative Assistant. After retiring, she worked for H&R Block as a Secretary for many years.
Joyce enjoyed reading, flower gardening, but, most of all spending time with family and friends and the many trips taken to see the United States with her husband, brother Junior and his wife Dolores.
Joyce was known for baking her famous Christmas cookies every year. At times she baked over 2,000 cookies and gave the majority of them away to family and friends. Many have tried, but no one has come close to replicating her cookie perfection. Joyce was tiny in stature, but had a mighty personality!
A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 26, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am at the Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Tri-County Memorial Gardens; 740 Wyndamere Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339.
