Dr. Katherine Gallagher-Shrift

She was born October 1, 1956 in Brookline, MA; she was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Gallagher and the late John Michael Gallagher; and preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Gallagher.

Katherine grew up in Pittsburgh; graduated from West Virginia University, and Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia.

She was a retired Family Physician with over 25 years of service; known for the compassionate care of her patients, and love and appreciation for her staff.

She was proud of her Irish heritage, and a fiercely passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She was a dedicated wife and mother of three, who always put her family first. Her strongest traits were her humor, intellect, and strong will.

She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Good Shepherd Parish.

She is survived by her husband, Craig A. Shrift, M.D.; three children, Jonathan Shrift, Caitlin Shrift, Kristin Dewey and her husband, Alec; her mother, Mary E. Gallagher; three brothers, J. Michael Gallagher, Robert L. Gallagher (Wife Lori) and William A. Gallagher; a sister, Margaret C. Mitro (Husband Jack); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also loved and supported by her extended Shrift family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A viewing will be held 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill, and a prayer service will be held at 8:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Katy’s name to Good Shepherd’s Building Fund, 3435 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
