She was the daughter of the late Frederick Bowman Dapp and Marian Martz Dapp. In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her husband George A. Bacon, Jr., her sister Martha Elizabeth Dapp Hempt, and her brother Frederick Bowman Dapp, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Albright (Richard), son John Bacon (Pamela), grandsons Jason Albright (Ashley), Ryan Albright (Robyn), Joshua Bacon (Morgan), and Jarek Bacon, and great-grandchildren Andrew, Elizabeth and Addison Albright.
Marianne was a graduate of Camp Hill High School, and attended Gettysburg College and Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, DC. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Delta Gamma sorority, PEO Chapter T, and a charter member and volunteer at the Food Pantry at Messiah Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, PA.
Marianne was a warm and loving lady in the true sense of the word. She was always cheerful, positive, caring and kind. Her motto, which she learned from her mother, was “It could always be worse,” and we repeated that truth to each other many times over the years. Her faith was very important to her, and she enjoyed helping others through a variety of volunteer work. Marianne loved sports, especially the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Flyers, and was often an avid fan at her son’s and grandsons’ athletic events. Most of all, she loved her family, and she will always be with us and in our hearts.
Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family. We would also like to thank the staff and friends at Messiah Lifeways for the love and care they gave to our mother in her five years as a resident there. Memorial contributions can be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109, or to Messiah Lifeways, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17057.
