Born July 29, 1936, in Gangwon-do, Wonju, South Korea; he was the 3rd son of the late Seongman and On-Nyon (Kwak) Won.
Surviving is his wife, Boksoon Elizabeth Won; daughters, June Tuman, Katherine Won, and Theresa Won; brothers, Changsik Won, Woonsik Won, Moosik Won; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Moonsik received his bachelor’s degree in Korea and taught history in high school. He and Boksoon left behind their home, their social network, their livelihood – everything—to come to the United States for the American dream for their daughters. Moonsik and Boksoon have been residing in Mechanicsburg, Pa for the last 40 years, being part of the growing Korean American community in Central Pennsylvania.
Moonsik was a business owner and active in the Korean American Business Association of Central PA, and an active member of the Harrisburg Korean Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer, finding his joy on the golf course. After retirement, he continued to work part-time and play golf every spare minute. A visitation will be held at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011 on Friday November 5, 2021 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery; 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
