Nelson was born on June 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA to Nelson and Thelma Korb. HE was a 1950 graduate of Camp Hill High School and attended Bucknell University, where he majored in Finance and graduated in 1954.
Nelson retired from the Navy Ship Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, PA. While there he headed the Fleet/Field Liaison office. Prior to entering federal service Nelson co-owned and operated the former Indian Echo Hotel, a dining and entertainment center in Hummelstown, PA.
Nelson lived and loved life to the fullest. He was always present to provide support, guidance, and love to his family and friends. His greatest joy, along with his late wife Betty, was to raise his two children Cheryl and Mike. He treasured his children and embraced every moment with them.
His other joy came along when his three grandsons, Kyle, Connor and Jack entered his life. He especially loved his role as Granddad to the boys.
Nelson was deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. HE will be remembered always for his infectious smile, athletic ability (football, baseball, basketball, golf, and track/field), dry sense of humor, his love of Penn State Football, cooking chicken on the grill with a beer by his side, and the general kindness and respect he showed to all who passed his way. Nelson was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, granddad and friend.
Nelson is survived by his daughter Cheryl A. Noonan and her significant other Robert Blickley, both of Hampden Township; a son, Mike Korb and his wife Amy Korb of Oklahoma City, OK; and his three grandsons, Kyle Timothy Noonan, Connor John Nonnan and Jack Thomas Noonan.
He was preceded in death by his wife and love of 48 years, Betty R. Korb. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy (Korb) Bouzek and Helen (Korb) Hawbecker.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Rolling Green Cemetery.
