Nuncio was the son of the late Nuncio Massara Sr. and Stella Massara (Palaima), born in Pittston, Pa. on June 19th 1941. After completing his high school education at Jenkins Township High School, he went on to Kings College, graduating with a degree in the Bachelor of the Arts.
In 1960, Nuncio met Joann Eileen Notari. They were married on March 7, 1964 and moved to Mechanicsburg, Pa. Nuncio started his career at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot where he worked in various roles and positions over a 35-year career with the Federal Government. Nuncio and Joann went on to have two children, Joann Marie and Nuncio III.
In 1999 he retired from the Federal Government and started a new chapter, spending more time in the woods hunting and on the water fishing with family and friends. Nuncio was constantly seen on the golf course improving his game, playing poker with friends, as well as traveling on regular family vacations and boys’ trips to Florida, all while making countless memories with his grandchildren.
Nuncio is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn E. Massara; a son, Nuncio III, wife Krista Rebo-Massara of Enola; daughter, JoAnn M. Scherrer, husband Brian J Scherrer of Enola, and a sister, Carol Ann Billek, husband Frank Billek of Delaware; as well as 4 grandchildren, Anthony J Scherrer, Kristina M Scherrer, Nuncio R Massara IV, Gianna Kristina Massara.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, between 10:00-11:00 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 Trindle Road, Camp Hill. A celebration of Nuncio’s life will continue at Visaggio’s Restaurant, 6990 Wertzville Rd in Enola beginning at 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a random act of kindness in his memory is requested during the upcoming holiday season.
