He was born on August 12, 1945, in Harrisburg, PA and was a graduate of Halifax Area High School.
He is preceded in passing by his brothers, Larry Shultz and Harry Shultz.
Surviving Richard is his girlfriend, Jane Pomerantz; brother, Jerry Shultz; sisters, Marilyn Ostermayer, Carolyn Magee and Karyn Kennedy.
Richard was an Army veteran and worked for many years for the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance. He was also a businessman who owned the Village of Colonial Peddlers in Carlisle, PA as well as many homes and apartments in the area which he managed. He was a member of the West Shore Country Club where he enjoyed brunch and visiting with friends who referred to him as “Dick”, and he loved his home at the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ and the time on his river boat on the Susquehanna River.
He was a generous donor of many charities including the Harrisburg Humane Society, the Cumberland and Perry County Domestic Violence Shelter, Downtown Daily Bread. In addition, he gave food to the local police and fire stations and served as a Big Brother.
He will be especially missed by his beloved dog, Ben, who he rescued 7 years ago and brought Richard unconditional love and immense joy.
A celebration of Richard's life will take place on September 27, 2025, from 10 am to noon at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
