Born in 1939 in Clevland, OH to the late Kenneth and Christina (Cook) Thomson.
Richard is preceded in passing by his younger siblings; Robert, William and Jonathan Thomson.
Surviving Richard is his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Thomson; nephew, Michael Thomson, nieces; Laura and Anna Thomson, along with his great nieces and nephews.
Dick graduated from the University of Illinois with a master’s in engineering. He worked for several companies prior to opening Food Engineering Inc. where he remained president for almost 40 years. He was an active member of several professional and social organizations and served on several boards. He was a mentor to many and generous with his talents and his time.
Dick will be remembered for his warm smile, his generous spirit and the remarkable ability to make everyone he met feel like an old friend. To know Dick was to be welcomed with good humor, kindness and genuine interest. He was a talented engineer who loved a challenge and was happiest when solving a problem.
Dick was a true adventurer with an endless zest for life. He explored the world and embraced every experience it offered. His passion for flying, sailing and traveling took him and Gloria to distant places and on many adventures.
He will be remembered for his compassionate heart, boundless curiosity and joyful spirit.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday November 8, 2025 at 11:00am at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A time to gather will be held from 10:00-11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Ministries, the Central PA Food Bank or to your local hospice.
