Born on September 12, 1942, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of Pauline Mowery and Charles Grosholz. He graduated from Gettysburg High School, where he was a proud three-sport athlete. Following graduation, Bob chose to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force in 1960, a decision that reflected his lifelong dedication, discipline, and sense of service.
After his military service, Bob began working for Lance Crackers, where fate introduced him to the love of his life, Patricia. The two married in October of 1966 and shared 59 wonderful years together, building a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
Bob later began a successful career with Washington National Insurance Company, where his determination and work ethic led him to become one of four Regional Vice Presidents. He was admired for his leadership, integrity, and generosity—qualities that extended far beyond his professional life.
A devoted husband and father, Bob found joy in spending time with his loved ones, coaching his children’s sports teams, and creating lifelong memories during vacations to Ocean City, Maryland, and Hersheypark. He was a passionate fan of Penn State football, the Boston Celtics, Indianapolis Colts, and Los Angeles Dodgers, cheering on his teams with enthusiasm every season.
Bob will be remembered as a kind, generous man with a quick smile, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Grosholz; his sister, Lucille Birgensmith; his brother, Tom Mowery, and his wife, Wina. He is also survived by his four children: Michelle Krissinger; Kristine Novakowski and her husband, Tom; Robert Grosholz Jr. and his husband, Mike; and Brian Grosholz and his wife, Marlena. Bob was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren—Ashley Edwards and her husband, Tyler; Edward Nicholson, David Novakowski, Nicholas Novakowski, Sarah Novakowski, Stephanie Novakowski, Kennedy Grosholz, Payton Grosholz, and Mackenzie Grosholz—and two great-grandchildren, Summer Ogdee and Troyan Ogdee. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Bob’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A viewing will take place on Monday November 17, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am at Good Shepherd Church in Camp Hill, PA; with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
