Robert L. Weber

Robert L. Weber, 80, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 15, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born May 13, 1939 in Marietta, OH, to the late Ralph and Gertrude (Vermaaten) Weber.
He was a professional musician beginning in high school playing organ in night clubs and teaching keyboard for over 20 years. He started working at Kresge’s while in high school in 1956.
Graduating from St. Mary’s High in 1957 and continuing work at Kresge’s while attending Marietta College in 1957-58.
In 1958, Robert was promoted to Assistant Store manager and the Kresge’s Corporation gave him the task of opening new locations. At 20 years old, he was the youngest manager in the company. He opened new locations, starting in Columbus, Ohio, and then in Camp Hill where he met Dolores, followed by Pittsburgh and Glen Burnie, MD.
Drafted in to the military in 1961, he served in the US Army as a member of the US Army Band where he played in performances all over the country, including the White House. He was then assigned to Germany and appointed the Assistant to the Chief Chaplain of the European Theatre of Operations where he served until his Honorable Discharge.
Robert then returned to Marietta and opened a retail music store, Weber Studios, which remained in business for 9 years.
He was a candidate for Mayor of Marietta in 1972 but lost the election by a slim margin. In 1973 he returned to Camp Hill, where he started working for Murphy’s as a Manager of the Capital City Mall location.
Amidst his busy life, Robert co-founded Channel 65 Sports, announced at Silver Springs Speedway and Camp Hill Lions football games and founded Uni Enterprises. He was also a member of the Camp Hill Horseshoe Club, the Knights of Columbus, York Auto Racing Club and a past district Governor of the Camp Hill Lions district 14-C.
Robert is preceded in death by his daughter Michelle and grandson Tyler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dolores Ann (Zuna) Weber; his son Matthew; daughters Kimberly (Mitch) and Dawn; grandchildren, Tara (Evan), Michael (Bevin), Christian, Arlie, Kelsey, Jesse, and Michelle; great grandson Gatlin; his brother Mike (Maryann); nephews, Adam and Robert; and niece Marina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Saturday December 21, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Camp Hill, with a visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am. Interment will be held Monday December 23, 2019 at 10:30am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

I am so sorry to see this post of Bob's passing. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends.
I worked with him at Murphy's for years. He always was smiling and had such good stories. I would run into him occasionally over the years and we would talk, and talk and talk some more. Always enjoyed his company.
