Roderick (“Rick”) Walker Cook III, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on Monday July 7, 2025, after a long battle with diabetes. Rick was born on February 1, 1954, in Rochester, Minnesota, to the late Louise Cook (Van Horn) and Roderick Walker Cook Jr. M.D.
He is survived by his sister, Sue Cook (Nick Christakos); his brother, Randall Cook (Valentina); nieces and nephews, Laura Cook, Michael Cook (Emily), Steve Christakos, Tom Christakos (Brooke), Jenny Christakos; and great nephews, Alex Cook, Cameron Cook and Julian Christakos.
Rick was a proud graduate of Camp Hill High School (Class of ’73) and worked for the State of PA, Dept. of Revenue for almost 30 years. Rick had two great passions in his life-sports and family. Rick loved to travel the east coast attending games of his beloved Ravens and University of Maryland and University of West VA football teams. He also enjoyed baseball and could be found in the stands rooting for the Frederick Keys or the Harrisburg Senators. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy, and he watched with parental pride as they grew up into amazing adults who enjoyed hearing “Uncle Rick’s” stories. Rick will be missed in the stands and by his family.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday July 31, 2025, at 11:30am at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A time for family and friends to gather will begin at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
