

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Robinson Shirvinsky, three children: Elaine Reda of Naples, FL, John of Camp Hill and his wife Carol, and Susan O’Donnell and her husband Patrick of Erial, NJ, as well as eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Stanley and Ludwiga Shirvinski and was predeceased by his brothers Adam and Alexander Shirvinski and sister Frances Nicholas. He is also survived by a sister Helen Rusesky, of Shenandoah.
Known to his many friends as “Murph”, he lived in Mahanoy City from his birth until moving to Camp Hill at the age of 86. He graduated from Mahanoy City High School in 1937.He served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing in 1941 and served in the Pacific Theatre for the duration of the WW II. He was a decorated veteran and earned the Purple Heart.
He was employed by the Kaier’s Brewing Company in Mahanoy City for more than two decades until its closing in 1968. He then worked for Allied Chemical Corp. in Pottsville until his retirement in 1983.
Murph was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill and was a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Church in Mahanoy City. He was a bowler for many years in both Mahanoy City and Shenandoah. He was a member of the VFW and the White Birch Golf Corse and walked the course as many as five days per week up until his 86th birthday.
Funeral service will be 11:00 Thursday, December 18, 2014 from Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill, PA, with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to service.
Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
