She graduated in 1953 from William Penn High School in York, PA, and from the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 as a Registered Nurse.
Susan was employed as a nurse at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and later at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA.
She was a member of the Harrisburg Hospital Nurses Alumni Association; a board Member of the Harrisburg Area Christian Women’s Club, the Brethren in Christ Church, and served for over thirty years with her husband who was the Eastern Vice President of the Narramore Christian Foundation with headquarters in Rosemead and Arcadia, California.
After retirement she and her husband owned and operated an antique clock business, exporting and importing more than 3,000 antique clocks throughout the world.
Surviving Mrs. Markley are her husband Kenneth, a retired Psychologist, and their two children, Jennifer (Dutka), of Camp Hill, PA, and Christopher Markley, of Gaines, PA; as well as two granddaughters, Amy (Strom) of Camp Hill, PA and Rachel Dutka of Baltimore, MD.
In lieu of a public service, members of the immediate family will gather at Rolling Green Cemetery, Garden of the Gospels, Camp Hill, PA for a private committal service led by a member of their family, Rev. Layne Miller/Vizthum of Chambersburg, PA.
