Thomas Joseph Moore Jr.

Thomas Joseph Moore, Jr., 81, of Harrisburg, PA, previously of Buck Hill Falls, PA died on July 8, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Diane Moore and devoted father of Kristine Moore. Tom is also survived by many loving family and friends.

Born July 20, 1940, in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Moore, Sr. and the late Helen E. (Mano) Moore. He was the stepson of the late Elma (Foster) Moore.

After attending Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic School in Middletown, PA, Tom continued his education at Saint Vincent Preparatory School in Latrobe, PA. He graduated from the former Harrisburg Catholic High School, now Bishop McDevitt High School, in Harrisburg, PA.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College and his Master of Administration from Pennsylvania State University. After additional studies at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he spent his career as a Certified Public Accountant. First starting his career in banking in Philadelphia, PA, he went on to spend many years in accounting, including his time as Director of Audits at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General, under the direction of Auditor General Robert Casey Sr. Tom continued his career in public accounting at Arthur Young & Company in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, IL. He finished his career in consulting as Executive Vice President for the Northeast Region at David M. Griffith and Associated, Ltd.

Tom always loved spending time with his family and friends. In his earlier years, he loved boating, especially exploring the Chesapeake Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida. Each winter he looked forward to downhill skiing in the Pocono Mountains. He also loved traveling around the United States for work and pleasure, particularly road trips to Florida. For many years, Tom enjoyed riding his bike along the banks of the Susquehanna River. He was an avid reader, stocking his bookshelves full of his favorite authors.

Funeral services were held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill, PA. Burial was held at Rolling Green Cemetery also in Camp Hill, PA.

The family extends their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff who supported Tom throughout his lifetime. The family requests that any future donations can be made in his name to the Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY, the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Gastroenterology in Baltimore, MD, or Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill, PA.
