Thomas E. (Tom) Unger, fondly known as Pop-Pop to those who loved him, passed away peacefully in Carlisle, PA on August 9, 2025, just shy of his 83rd birthday. Tom was born on August 13, 1942, in Bethlehem, PA, and married the love of his life, Connie (Daluisio) Unger, on June 27, 1964. Tom’s job in sales took him & Connie to Mechanicsburg, PA where they lived for over 30-years. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary!
Tom served in the Army from 1961 to 1964. He was a lifelong learner, had a generous spirit and a quick wit, and loved to spend time with his family. He lived to care for his wife, Connie, and theirs was a marriage marked by devotion and steadfast companionship. Tom was a father to two daughters - Laura Weber (fiancé, Tom Barstow) and Janice Groff (husband, Jeff Groff), a grandfather to two granddaughters – Vanessa Pak (husband, Justin Pak) and Ashley Hills (husband, Justin Hills), and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren – Kendall Foor, Tyson Pak, Dylan Pak, and Jaxon Hills.
Tom was a voracious reader, encouraged his girls to pursue education – both formally and informally, and he enjoyed watching boring television and looking for new recipes for Connie to try. He made pumpkin pies every Thanksgiving and was famous for ‘Pop-Pop’s Barbecue Shrimp.’
To honor Tom’s wishes, no services have been planned.
