She was born June 16, 1933 in Campo Tures, Italy, the daughter of Gino and Olga (D’Olif) Menardi.
Mrs. Ballard married John Ballard, from Marshall Texas, in Brunico, Italy on June 21, 1960. She proudly stood by his side throughout his 30 years of service in the US Army and 10 years with GTE. Growing up in the Italian alps during World War II, she dreamed of traveling the world. She did just that, taking herself to London at the age of 21 to learn English, and then meeting her future husband in Pirmasens, Germany. She loved stories of people, the movies, plays, and books. She was also a wonderful storyteller herself. She was an amazing cook and no one left her table dissatisfied. Her home was always beautiful and cozy and welcoming to all who came.

Worth, TX; grandchildren, Kalila Warner and husband, Mike of Mechanicsburg, PA; Robert Shinn and wife Mayzie, US Army in Fayetteville, NC; Tyler Ballard of Columbia, MO; and Jack Ballard of Gangelt, Germany; great grandchildren, Ava, Eliana, Cara, and Sara Warner.
