He was born on December 12, 1935 in Hackensack, NJ. Willie was the son of the late William and Lillian (Barber) Jones. Along with his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his brother, Warren Jones; and his son, Willard Jr, who was lost at birth.
Throughout his life, Willie had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles. Earlier in his life he loved drag racing. He spent some of his happiest thrill-seeking times at Williams Grove Speedway, along with many NASCAR races, including his family and friends getting him a retirement gift take a trip to Dover Motor Speedway, where Willie had the ride of his life racing several laps in a nascar. In addition to racing, Willie enjoyed watching Penn State Football, and deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed his few years coaching Little League baseball and softball, as his children grew up. Willie had many hobbies to keep him active, but his favorite pass-time was always time spent with his family.
Willie spent several years in the Naval Reserves. Professionally, Willie worked for Cleveland Brothers in Lemoyne, PA. Willie left the company to a new career in 1975, as the Vice President at Alex R. Szeles Builders and Appraisers, working 27 years until his retirement in May 2002. Willie then proceeded to work through his retirement at the Harrisburg Auto Auction, in Mechanicsburg PA.
On December 22, 1956, he married the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Jean (Sterner) Jones. This union was blessed with two children, Suzanne (Jones)Worley, and Daniel Jones. His friends and family will always remember Willie’s smile, humor, love of animals, gentle nature, love and compassion for family and friends, and his faith.
As Willie moves to his heavenly home, he leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Jean (Sterner) Jones; his daughter, Suzanne (Jones) Worley; his son, Daniel Jones; his daughter-in-law, Tammy (Summy)Jones; his granddaughter-in-law- Chelsea Wolf; four grandsons, Adam Worley, Mitchell Worley, Aaron Jones, and Seth Jones; his granddaughter Brianna Jones; his great grandson Ivan Gonzalez; five great granddaughters Makenzie Worley, Kylie Worley, Jocelyn Worley, Josie Gonzalez, and Mae Jones; along with several other relatives and friends. He will be truly missed by ALL!
Willie’s celebration of life will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024. His funeral service will begin at 11 AM at Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA . A viewing will be held at 10 AM up until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Rolling Green Cemetery, 1811 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA, followed by a gathering and lunch at St. Paul’s Church, 626 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17109.
