Andre passed away in Campbell River, British Columbia, after a brief struggle with liver cancer on June 13, 2021. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Andre spent much of his life travelling, seeking adventure, and living his life to its fullest. He grew up in Montreal and served as a Canadian peacekeeper in Cyprus, before moving to Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Burns Lake, Chilliwack, and finally settling in Campbell River with his father and brother. Andre loved fast cars, playing cards, camping, hunting, and fishing of all kinds. Making friends wherever he went, he explored the wilderness from one coast to another, happiest when he was winching a truck out of the mud or waist deep in a river casting flies.
Andre is survived by his former wife, Catherine Therien (née Argyle); their two daughters, Tania Therien (Robert Cuffley) and Tara Therien (Mike Bohdan); four grandchildren, Kyler, Freja, Kora, and Lucia; his nephew Robbie; and cousins-as-close-as-siblings, Michelle, Patrick, and Leslie Normoyle. He is also survived by innumerable friends, all of whom are holding a place for him at the poker table. Andre was predeceased by his parents, Alice (née Boutin) and Gilbert Therien, his brother Paul Therien, and his cousin, Aline Normoyle.
Following Andre’s wishes, no service was held.
