

Born in Rock Bay B.C. to Harold and Dorothy Lewis of Sayward in 1933, and remained there until he retired. In 1953, Fred married Margorie (nee Hanna) and raised their family in Sayward. Fred tried a variety of jobs before joining Mac & Blo in Kelsey Bay as a logging truck driver/dispatcher. A career he worked at until retirement.
While in Sayward, Fred was a very active volunteer for the community.
His wife Margorie passed away in 1984 and after some time he found love again with Margaret Mandseth and they married in 1993, Fred retired the following year and they moved to Campbell River soon after. They had many great adventures travelling with their motorhome both in Canada and the States.
Fred was very passionate about Vintage cars, owning a number of them and was a Vintage Car club member for 56 years. Both he and Margaret enjoyed many car club tours including one in New Zealand.
Fred will be remembered for his ability to make everyone feel like an old friend, his love of family and his willingness to help anybody anytime.
Survived by wife Margaret, stepchildren Tom, Dennis(Phyllis),Margaret(David), Sandra(Dan) chosen daughter Deana(Tom), brother David(Nicole) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fred was predeceased by daughter Linda, first wife Margorie, sons Jim and Frank and brother Don.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Care Home for their exceptional care and brightening up his last months.
There will be a celebration of Life on March 13 2026 from 1 to 4pm at the Eagles Hall Campbell River. Please join the family for some reminiscing and light snacks.
