Ross peacefully passed on April 21, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side, knowing his family had all spent time with him. Ross worked hard to recover from a fall and serious illness last summer and then put up a valiant fight against cancer.
Ross was born in Elrose, Sask. on January 16, 1938, a cold, wintery Saskatchewan night and moved to their Peterson Road farm in Campbell River in 1939.
Rosco always said he graduated in 1955, 1956 and 1957! He started work at Elk Falls Pulp Mill in 1957 as a papermaker and retired as a pipefitting foreman in 1996. Over the years he volunteered with the fire department, played and coached sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, curling, golf), hunted and was an avid sports fisherman in the rivers, ocean and Tyee Pool. He was celebrated as an Honorary Member of the Tyee Club where he was an accomplished rower, appreciated and respected for his knowledge and skill. He and June enjoyed travelling and spending time working in the yard and garden, always watching the ocean.
Papa was proud of his family and they of him. He celebrated and loved watching his grandchildren grow, explore the world and play sports. He quietly taught us everything we needed to know.
Left to mourn Ross are the love of his life, June, his children Andrea (Rob), Steven (Christy), Risa, Danna, Brad, 10 grandchildren, great granddaughter, cousins, the mother of his children, Carol Anderson, lifelong friends and caring neighbours. Predeceased by his parents Carrol and Nancy, sister Goldie, brother LeRoy, son Joseph and son in law Sandy Branchi.
Ross was a special man. His quiet nature, solid strength, thoughtfulness, and knowledge will be missed by all who knew him. Through the years, his smile, quick wit and the sparkle in his eye were always appreciated.
Ross requested no formal service. It is what it is. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Chapter of the Wildlife Society, BC Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
