James Terrence Powell was 58 years old when he went home to be with his ancestors on Monday morning July 6, 2020. For 34 years Jimmy contended with the effects of a tragic motorcycle accident on Labour Day of 1986 in his hometown of Port Hardy. For the past 12 years due to his medical needs Jimmy has lived in care facilities. First, he was at Rainbow Gardens in Port Alberni and most recently at Discovery Harbour in Campbell River.
James is predeceased by his father John D. Powell and his mother Janet C. (nee Bell) Powell. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his siblings Julia Smith, John, Harold and Sheldon Powell and by his many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
A very small private family service will be held at the Port Hardy Civic Centre on Friday, July 10, 2020 where participants are requested to wear Jimmy's favourite colour blue. Afterward a procession through Port Hardy will occur. Final internment will take place at the Port Hardy Municipal Cemetery on Byng Road. Remembrance pamphlets will be available from [email protected]."
