John,
My cousin, my brother. Someone I looked up to, loved and respected. Defender of the underdog, no matter how many legs!

John is a delightfully fascinating character worthy of a novel. He constantly studied the world around him, seeking solutions with his ever inventive mind. Watching John at work on a practical problem was a lesson in focussed patience.  He brought the same intellectual attention to his mindful evaluations of humanity’s behaviour, railing against injustice and historic failures. In a gathering John could often be seen stepping back and quietly observing with his enigmatic smile upon his face and from his lips would come a gentle, mischievous laughter that we will always hear: “ heh… heh… heh “

I still don’t want to believe it’s true. My Uncle Johnny. Sitting here sifting through a lifetime of memories. He was always there. Mom and her brother loved each other very much. She reminded me often of the time when I was an infant, and we were at home. He dropped by for a visit and could see she was suffering from a severe asthma attack. No one had a car except his buddy Lanny a block away, so he ran to get that car. He arrived back to the house, ran inside, picked up Mom in his arms and put her in the car and raced to the hospital. They always had each other’s back. His last text he sent to Mom before she passed in November read, 
“Hi Haidee Wobb, tell Dale I’ll love her forever and thank her for looking out for me all my life. She was my hero on my first day at Far Forest School when she chased the bully away who picked on me. I never forgot how she protected me that day and looked after me. She was the best there was and always generous. I love her so much”.  
I’m going to miss him so much. I’ll miss hearing him call me “Haidee Wobb”. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was so easy to get along with. I especially loved the voicemail he left for my birthday one year, singing happy birthday in his best Jean Chretien impression. Love you Uncle Johnny, more than all the tea in China.

I remember John as a very contented and welcoming person. He always had something to do, whether it was walking the dog or finding things that needed to be repaired.
His natural kindness showed when he took such an interest in my partner, Walter's move into the Senior's Home. He visited several times, despite his old friend's loss of memory.
John set a high standard  for a person who was preparing to leave this world...it was definitely on his terms and he showed remarkable courage. I will always remember John, a very unique man.    Morgan

John was a very kind and humble man and an uncle to be treasured. I loved his humour and appreciated his hobbies and interests. He was a wonderful partner to my aunt. 
God takes the good ones first because he needs them. 
My sincere condolences to my Auntie Lesia who misses him dearly as do Clay and Anya and their families and his sister’s children. A good man who was very loved. God Bless him.

John was a true friend to us as family ,as extended family I must add. John had a quiet reserve about him but we always felt his warmth and kindness  when we were together .
May his eternal rest be one of  joy & peace .
