With profound sadness, we say farewell to our dear sister and auntie Rose, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rose was born in Regina Sk., but at a young age, she and the family travelled to Campbell River alongside their parents, Karl and Mary.
Rose is survived by her sisters, Cindy {Brian}, Brenda, Loretta, and brother, Darrell. As well, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers, Tony and Joe, nieces Cari-lyn and Marci as well, her parents, Karl and Mary Schmitt.
Rose was devoted to her family and had a heart of gold, always offering support and ready to lend a hand.
Known throughout her life as “Rosie”, she was involved in music from a young age; becoming the first female drummer in a band, in Campbell River. Rosie also loved sports, coaching and playing softball for years, obtaining her Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, later owned and operated Noble house of Karate. Getting involved and staying active with CR women’s hockey, where she grew as a team of friends over 10 yrs. she enjoyed her position in net.
Later into her life, she became a drummer for the CR Legion Pipe Band, where she took pride and stayed active.
Rose also loved her career in security, working for CR Chances Casino. Staff and patrons say she was a “gem” and they looked forward to seeing her each day.
She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
As per Rose's wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life, on Saturday, January 18 2025, from 11am - 1 pm. The service will be held in the “Kidz Corner” building, located at 516 South Dogwood Street.
In lieu of flower, please consider a donation to the Diabetic Association or one of choice.
"When Tomorrow Starts Without Me"
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand.
That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand:
The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above.
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But when I walked through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me,
And told me "Welcome Home."
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right there in your heart.
