As a young man, Heinz began his love to travel. Throught the years, he lived and worked i both Holland and Sweden. He even spent time in the Swedish Merchant Marines. Heinz came to Los Angeles about 50 years ago, where he worked in the hospitality department as a banquet waiter in many of the fine hotels. The last one being the Century Plaza Hotel, where he retired after 31 years; and where Heinz met many close friends and co-workers.
As many know, Heinz loved to discuss politics and life in general. He was also an accomplished cook, gardner and amateur tree-trimmer, and avid reader. He was known to read 3 newspapers a day. He also loved his dear dogs, Lady first and then Maggie where he took them daily to Serrenia Park in Woodland Hills. That is where he came to enjoy, through the years, the company of many mutual dog owners with whom he became close friends. In fact, wherever Heinz seem to go, he met so many friends.
Heinz bravely fought over a 16 year battle wth Leukemia/Lymphoma (CLL). He was fortunate to receive a grant from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society which helped so much in paying for the costly cancer medications. Heinz will be missed by all those who came to know him. You will always be remembered, Our Dear Heinz. Rest well now.
