Ann, as she was known to her family and friends, passed away peacefully after a brief illness of various medical conditions. Ann was strong willed and a fighter throughout her life, but even that wasn't enough. Sadly she succumbed to her illness.
A native of Long Island, New York, Ann was born to Rocco and Frances Izzo who were Italian immigrants. She grew up in the community of Greenvale where she attended grade school and then graduated from Rosalyn High School in 1948 where she participated in activities such as archery, volleyball, baseball, basketball, and photography. After graduation, Ann worked as a waitress for the Dutch Pantry Diner where she met her future husband Charles"Charlie" K. Dow. Ann and Charlie had a son Charles "Chuck" in 1963 and moved to California in 1965. Ann had her second child, a daughter, Charlene "De" in 1968.
Ann resided in the West San Fernando Valley since coming to California. Ann's passion for sports was instilled in her children, especially her daughter, who she coached in soccer, basketball, and softball during her daughter's teenager years. Ann was a loyal basketball fan who enjoyed watching her LA Lakers and an avid dog lover. She enjoyed spending time with her family, dining out, and taking daily walks with her friends at the mall. Ann enjoyed making Italian meatballs, which were always requested by family and friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Charlie; brothers Tom and Joe Izzo; sister Rose Izzo.
Ann is survived by her son, Chuck Dow and daughter De Dow.
Ann always spoke her mind and most of her friends found it to be entertaining. She said what she meant and meant what she said. Ann was a very caring and compassionate person. Many of her friends described her as "One of a kind." Her loss will be felt by many and she will be sorely missed.
One of Ann's Favorite quotes: "Age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind... it doesn't matter."
