
Age 86
Calvin was born November 3rd, 1924 in Chicago, Ill. to Robert and Anna Kaiser and passed away in Woodland Hills, California on January 20, 2011. He served as a Field Medic in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater where he received both Bronze and Silver Stars. He moved his family to the San Fernando Valley in 1958 and worked in construction on various housing tracts and projects. In 1968 he began his employment at L.A. Valley College as a carpenter and remained there until his retirement in 1987. He was a founding and continuing member of The Congregational Church of Chatsworth. He enjoyed making projects out of wood and was always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte M. Kaiser of Winnetka, CA., sister Marcella Vavrosky of Countryside, Ill., brother Robert Kaiser of Westchester, Ill., daughters Cheryl Devereaux (Keith) of Long Beach, CA., Cindy Knafl (Alan) of Oaklawn, Ill., Caren Jauss of Simi Valley, CA., and sons, Craig Kaiser (Lauri) of Van Nuys, CA., Carl Kaiser of Panorama City, CA., Chris Kaiser (Darlene) of Palmdale, CA., 19 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Carol Ann Kaiser and Michael Scott Devereaux. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Saturday January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Gates, Kingsley, and Gates Praiswater Mortuary in Canoga Park. No viewing or graveside services are planned.
