Carmen Nájera

Carmen Nájera, age 66, of Canoga Park, California passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Carmen was born in San Juan Talpa, La Paz, El Salvador. One of eleven siblings, she lost her mother young but carried the strength of generations. At 19, she immigrated to the U.S. and built a life grounded in love, resilience, and family. She met her lifelong partner, Avel, at 22, and together they raised three children: Alex, Abel, and Andrea.

Carmen made her home a refuge — not just for her family, but for relatives newly arriving from El Salvador. No one was ever turned away. She lived with a free spirit, a sharp wit, and a deep, unwavering love. She adored music, especially cumbias, and never missed a chance to dance.

She believed fiercely in education, laying the foundation that helped all three of her children become college graduates — a proud milestone for the family. She helped turn the dream of homeownership into reality and built a household where love, laughter, and warmth were constants.

Carmen is survived by her husband, Avel; her children, Alex, Fito, and Andrea; and her beloved grandchildren, Luna and Frankie. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the family she built, and the love she left behind.

A visitation for Carmen will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary, located at 6909 Canoga Avenue, Canoga Park, CA 91303.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 9:45 AM, at the same location.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, located at 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311, where Carmen will be laid to rest.

Carmen Nájera, de 66 años, residente de Canoga Park, California, falleció el martes 20 de mayo de 2025. Carmen nació en San Juan Talpa, La Paz, El Salvador. Fue una de once hermanos y perdió a su madre a una edad muy joven, pero cargó con la fortaleza de generaciones. A los 19 años emigró a los Estados Unidos y construyó una vida basada en el amor, la resiliencia y la familia. Conoció a su compañero de vida, Avel, a los 22 años, y juntos criaron a tres hijos: Alex, Fito y Andrea.

Carmen convirtió su casa en un refugio — no solo para su familia, sino también para los familiares que llegaban recién al país desde El Salvador. Nadie fue rechazado. Vivía con un espíritu libre, una mente aguda y un amor profundo e inquebrantable. Adoraba la música, especialmente las cumbias, y nunca perdía la oportunidad de bailar.

Creía firmemente en la educación, y sentó las bases que permitieron a sus tres hijos graduarse de la universidad — un logro lleno de orgullo para la familia. Ayudó a hacer realidad el sueño de tener casa propia, y construyó un hogar donde el amor, la risa y la calidez eran constantes.

A Carmen le sobreviven su esposo, Avel; sus hijos, Alex, Fito y Andrea; y sus adoradas nietas, Luna y Frankie. Su legado vive en las vidas que formó, la familia que construyó y el amor que dejó.

El velorio de Carmen se llevará a cabo el viernes 6 de junio de 2025, de 5:00 PM a 8:00 PM en Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary, ubicado en 6909 Canoga Avenue, Canoga Park, CA 91303.

Los servicios fúnebres se llevarán a cabo el sábado 7 de junio de 2025, a las 9:45 AM, en el mismo lugar.

El entierro se realizará en Oakwood Memorial Park, ubicado en 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311, donde Carmen descansará en paz.
