

Terry was born on July 20, 1940 to Mary Glynn and Henry Mercer in Accrington England. After Terry graduated from St Oswald Secondary, he went on to study Engineering with British Higher National.
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he started his first job at Howard & Bullough as an Engineer, kick starting a 47 year career in Engineering.
At 17 Terry met his soon to be wife Sylvia at the Accrington dance hall, Stephen their first son arrived shortly after. The three of them moved to America in 1968 after Terry was offered a job with Mattel Toy corp. where he worked on designing the voice mechanism for talking toys including talking Barbie. David and Elliot were born soon after in Manhattan Beach where the Mercers first lived in California.
In 1976, the Mercers moved to Woodland Hills on the edge of the San Fernando Valley. Terry loved working on his house and garden making constant improvements, he loved Photography and was part of the “F-stop” Camera Club, he loved jazz and playing the saxophone. He loved mountain biking, road biking, traveling, most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren Nash and Tate, his sons and wife. Terry had a full life and in 2006, even though he retired from work he continued to help everyone around him
He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his three boys, Stephen, David, and Elliot, and his two grandsons, Nash and Tate. Everyone that ever met him was lifted up by this amazing man, an example of how good a person could be. Terry will be greatly missed and will live in all of our hearts forever.
