

Gilberto was born on July 24, 1931 to Ruggero and Tanina Ridino, in the small town of Patti, in the province of Messina, Sicily, Italy.
At the young age of twelve, Gilberto left school to become an apprentice as a tailor. After World War II in 1947, at the age of sixteen, Gilberto joined his older brother in Rome, Italy to practice his newly acquired craftsmanship. In Rome, destiny would align for Gilberto to meet his beloved wife Anna Ridino.
In 1952, Gilberto began the courtship of Anna Fabbi (1938-2003) and would marry on April 25, 1957, at the ancient church of Saint Rocco in Rome, Italy. Gilberto and Anna were lifelong companions and best friends for over forty-five years. Their love would grow into a family blessed with three children, Ruggero, Marino, and Virginia.
With much courage and fortitude, Gilberto and Anna embarked their family on a life changing journey to the United States of America. Tearfully leaving behind their beloved land and families for a better life, they arrived in Los Angeles, California to seek the American dream.
In Los Angeles, Gilberto continued his artisanship to provide for his family as a tailor at Bullocks, Silverwoods, and eventually starting his own business, Ridino Tailors in Westlake Village, California.
Gilberto will be missed by his three children and four grandchildren Gianberto, Lea, Massimo, Nico; sister-in-laws Lisa and Debora; and many close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dearest wife; Anna and siblings; Basilio, Giovanni, Concettina, Armando, Manlio, and Rosetta.
Gilberto was a responsible son, a protective brother, a jokester friend, a loving husband, a honorable father, and beloved grandfather.
Visitation for Gilberto Ridino will be held November 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary, 6909 Canoga Ave, Canoga Park, CA 91303. Followed by a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St, Chatsworth, CA 91311.
