Monday, July 31, 1961 to Elaine John and Isaac George. Gwyneth was the youngest of Elaine’s five (5)
daughters, and of course, was spoiled by her older sisters.
At a very young age Gwyneth immigrated to the United States with her mother. She attended primary
and secondary schools in Kansas City, Mo, Chicago, Il and Denver, CO. Gwyneth enlisted in the United
States Navy after graduating from George Washington High School in Denver, CO. During her
enlistment, Gwyneth was stationed in Georgia where she met and married Roger Kendricks, who was
also a military enlistee. Together Gwyneth and Roger had two handsome and intelligent sons, Roshia
(Dre) and Michael. Her son Roshia extended her family with two sons, Tailyn and Mason.
Ever the negotiator, Gwyn is reported to have gotten her older sisters (especially Myrtle) out of tight
corners with their mother who, in island style, did not spare the rod to spoil the child. She was the “no
drama” child, handled whatever issues she faced with calm perseverance.
Gwyneth was highly intelligent and dedicated herself to doing the best job in whichever position she
held; and was always willing to assist her co-workers with their projects. She worked for many years in
the mortgage and banking industry, where she most recently held positions at Bank of America in Simi
Valley, CA, and at US Legal Support in Canoga Park, CA. Her smile was bright, her humor subtle, and her
laughter infectious. A lady of class and incredible fashion sense, she could make a “flour sack” look like
it belonged on the fashion runways in Milan, Italy.
We will miss her beautiful eyes; the funny faces she made in certain situations; her soothing voice; and
the kindness of her big heart. She left us too soon, with hearts splintered in many pieces that will never
be put back together because a major piece will be missing.
Her mother Elaine John, sisters Estella Yallery (Trinidad), Shirley Inda (MA), Myrtle John-Frazier (FL) and
Jennifer John Crenshaw (CO); grandsons Tailyn & Mason Kendricks; nephews and nieces Patrice Inda
(MA), Michelle Inda (MA), Nicole George (Trinidad) and Dan Inda (NY) are left to mourn her passing and
grieve their loss.
As we mourn her passing, let us take solace in her life, her strength of character, the high regard and
esteem she earned from her family, co-workers and loved ones, and the grateful thanks of all those who
benefited from her generous and giving spirit. While this may not be the ultimate comfort, let us see
her life as one that was well (even though short)-lived, a blessing to many, and a credit to herself and
her family. MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
