residence in Simi Valley, California on February 24,
2023. Helen was born and raised in Monon, Indiana,
relocating to Chicago, New York and finally California.
She established herself in business and was an owner
of a business forms company for many years. Helen’s
enthusiasm for work was such that she continued
working until illness made it impossible to continue a
few months before her death. One aspect of
employment that was very important to Helen was
being able to contribute, both to the company and to
her colleagues. She was valued wherever she worked.
Helen loved nature, birds, dogs, cats, butterflies, travel,
friends and family. She was a very enthusiastic fan of her favorite sports teams. She
traveled widely, and felt an especially strong love for the British Isles, which she visited
at least ten times.
Foremost in Helen’s life was her love for family and friends. While she never married or
had children, she kept in close contact with extended family and lifelong friends. She
continued making friends throughout her life. At her final place of employment, a
school for those in the medical field, she made many friends among the staff and
students, all of whom felt moved and uplifted by her encouragement and friendship.
Helen’s quiet faith supported her in all her endeavors. She didn’t speak of it much, but
she was propelled and sustained by it.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and too many other family
members to list. Her passing is mourned by nieces, nephews, cousins, their families
and many friends.
While Helen will be profoundly missed by those of us who knew and loved her, we feel
blessed to have known, loved her and to have been a part of her life, and that she was
a part of ours.
A memorial service will be held at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds, IN on
May 9, at 11 am. A service in Chatsworth, CA will also be held. The date for that
service will be announced at a later date.
