She was born July 16, 1940 in Burney Falls, California to John Franklin Dollarhide and Evelyn Mable Howard. The oldest of three children, a sister Linda Ann Tamboer and brother Johnathon Cappy Dollarhide who predeceased her.
She married Charles Edward Raffington on December 8, 1956 and they had four children, Cynthia Ann, Charles Neal, Monique Suzette, and Jacque Eric. They divorced and many years later she fell in love with Marcel D. Vernay and they married on September 10,1970. Many years after Marcel died she found love again with George Ferrari her long time companion.
She believed in love, life, family, friends and god.
Having grandchildren and great-grandchildren is a blessing for any mother and her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immeasurable for Jason & Nicole, Jade, and Alexis; Andrew & Jenny, Jeremiah, and Alexander; Justin & Larissa, Kameron, and Wyatt; Charles, and Benjamin. In addition to her loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she also loved and would always be available to support her nieces and nephews, Anna, Robert, Deanne, Curtis, Jimmy, and their children throughout the years. She was blessed to have so many people in her life including her son-in-law Brad, who was there for her as much as she was there for him as they guided each other through difficult times and the good times in life.
She had multiple jobs in her life besides being a mother and wife. In her younger years she was a legal secretary for many years, and she eventually found herself as a volunteer coordinator, which she thrived in.
Her passion to help others to experience a better life came naturally. She touched so many lives and she never turned any one away in their time of need. She had a lot of compassion and strength as a volunteer coordinator working at Providence for many years, until the age of 70, where she guided many volunteers to support patients at their end of life. During this time she gained a wealth of strong friendships with many compassionate people that mirrored her values, people who are proud to have known her and to have been her friend.
Another passion that came naturally was cooking and hosting parties. She was the driving force in family get-togethers, from birthdays to holidays, weddings and funerals. She was well known for her cooking skills and hosting parties so much so that the family gatherings started including her friends; you never knew how many people would show up to one of these events.
She also enjoyed having people around and she enjoyed making them happy, and it made her feel good that she was helping someone to obtain their goals and reaching they’re potential in life.
She will forever be loved and she will always be in our hearts and in our minds and our prayers.
There will be a virtual celebration of life. If you are interested in attending please send an email to [email protected]
