

She was born in Ridgeway, Iowa on March 13, 1916, the daughter of Oscar and Edna (Kratz) Moe. She attended grade school in Ridgeway and high school in West Union, Iowa where she moved with her family. She took business courses at Upper Iowa University in Fayette in 1933.
She married Herbert V. Lutz on December 27, 1935. They lived in Milwaukee, West Allis, and Waukesha, Wisconsin until moving to Houston, Texas in September of 1972. In 1977, upon retirement, they moved to Palestine, Texas where they restored an old Victorian house.
Her husband predeceased her on June 17, 1986 after more than 50 years of marriage. In 2001, she moved to Woodland Hills, California to be with her son and daughter-in-law.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid reader all her life, and enjoyed fashion and gardening. She remained physically active, getting her first bicycle and learning to ride it at the age of 60. She enjoyed swimming and biking into her 70’s.
A lifelong churchgoer, she was raised in the Lutheran church, and was most recently a member of the Woodland Hills Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her son, Jon H. Lutz and wife Elizabeth of Woodland Hills, California; daughter, Margaret E. (Lutz) Costanzo and husband Christopher Costanzo of Bethel, Vermont; granddaughter, Catherine M. Costanzo and husband James Fox of Henniker, NH; sister, Delores (Moe) Blockhus of Urbandale, Iowa; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Willard Moe, in 1965.
A memorial service will be held at the Woodland Hills Presbyterian Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 15. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodland Hills Presbyterian Church.
