Ralph Dean Bondurant passed peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the age of 85. He was born October 13, 1933 to Karl Henry Grohman and Ettadean Averill. His father passed when Ralph was a child and Ettadean married Roman Bondurant and he raised her children as his own. Ralph was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and was raised in Bumblee, Arizona, which is now a ghost town.
He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal as a member of the Navy. Ralph made a living as a drywall contractor for more than 50 years. He loved his family, horses, dogs and being a part of the Ugly Motorcycle Club.
He married Edith in 1958 and they had three daughters, Teresa, Vicki and Tina. His oldest daughter Teresa is married to Dave and they have two children, Shauna and Amie; Shauna has a son Julian, and is currently expecting a little girl who is due in April. His second daughter Vicki is married to John, and they have four children, Michael, Joey, Krysta and Corey. Michael has three children, Bryce, Jade and Anthony; Krysta has a son Gavin, Corey has a son KJ, and Bryce has a daughter, Ava, giving Ralph his first great-great grandchild. His youngest daughter is Tina and she has a daughter Jessica. In 1980 Ralph married Susie, and their family grew to include Michael and Brianna. His son, Michael has a daughter, Lindsey.
Ralph had a very dry sense of humor which left people guessing all the time as to whether he was serious or not, especially his grandchildren.
Services will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, on January 26, 2019 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at the home of his daughter. Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Ralph are invited to gather, reminisce, support each other, and of course just chat.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org).
